Year 3
Our Curriculum
We cover a range of interesting topics across the school year. The yearly overview provided gives an insight to some of the activities your child will be participating in and experiencing each term.
Class Information and Homework
PE Lessons
We have PE lessons twice a week so please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school at the beginning of each week and it is named.
Reading
At Wingate Primary School, we aim to foster a love of reading and to increase exposure to different types of texts. Through daily reading, we aim to develop our fluency and comprehension of the texts.
We encourage the use of Bug Club for children to access a range of different texts at home as well as in school. At the end of each school day we have Dream Time, where we read a text which is chosen by the class.
Maths
Children are encouraged to use Numbots online at home on a regular basis to build fluency, accuracy and confidence.
In the Summer Term, the children will progress to using Times Tables Rock Stars to build their fluency with multiplication.
Homework
In Year 3, Maths and English homework will be sent home on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. We also encourage children to log onto Bug Club and Numbots regularly at home.
